FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 13, 2012
Watsonville, CA: Saturday September 15th brings our littlest fans to the Santa Cruz County Fair as a swarm of babies get ready, set, and go in the Diaper Derby. The races will start at 11:30 am at Paddy Smith Park on the Fairgrounds.
The speedy babies will start on one side and race to the finish line 18 feet away where a parent is waiting for them. Racing babies can crawl, scoot, or pull themselves along any way they can to get to the finish line the fastest, as parents are calling, cheering, cooing, or shaking toys. The child that crosses the finish line to reach their parent first wins. The Diaper Derby first place winning child will receive a trophy and a $25.00 certificate from Jelly Beans. Second and third place prizes include money, a gift certificate to Little People Store, books, and a gift card from Crossroads Books. To enter the Diaper Derby, children must be less than a year old.
Following the Diaper Derby, the Toddler Contest will take place at the Paddy Smith Park racetrack. Toddlers who are under 2 years old will have the same contest racing from point A to their parents at point B. The winner will get a first place trophy, along with a $25 Jelly Belly gift certificate. The second and third place toddlers can win money, a gift certificate to Red Apple Café, books, and a gift card to Crossroads Books.
Parents can register their agile offspring online, at the Fair office prior to the races, or at the beginning of the event on Race Day.
